Their bacon is so good! I'll come in to get more.
Kate H. - ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
From their beautifully raised beef and heritage pork to their vibrant, no-till produce, everything at Green River is thoughtfully grown and sourced with the people and the environment in mind. You can taste the love and labor of the Berkshires in every bite. Supporting this farm is a sound investment in our neighbors, our landscape, and our future. I can’t recommend Green River Regenerative and the team behind it enough. These are the people, and this is exactly the kind of place that makes Williamstown so special.

ABOUT-US.jpg

ABOUT THE FARM

The 235-acre farm, formerly known as Modern Dairy, the Langer Farm, and Green River Farms, is on land which was used in part for farming and as hunting grounds by the Mohican people and was later settled by former British soldiers garrisoned at Fort Massachusetts and Fort West Hoosac. The farm lies in the western shadow of Mount Greylock, highest point in the state of Massachusetts, and has the Green River running through it on its way north to the Hoosick River, which eventually meets the Hudson River.

The history of agriculture in this area, the Berkshires of Massachusetts, is largely rooted in wool and dairy production along with leather, timber, spinning, and cheese. The value-added products were transported west to the Hudson River, only 30 miles away, providing a conduit to the major markets of Albany and the upper Hudson Valley.

OUR MISSION

The mission of Green River Regenerative, LLC, is to establish a profitable working-farm which serves as a viable demonstration model and learning center for regenerative agriculture students and practitioners predicated on the Six Principles of Soil Health and Three Rules of Adaptive Stewardship harnessing the Four Ecosystem ProcessesTM (6-3-4TM), and to validate through research, the ecological, economic and human/community health benefits of soil health-improving regenerative agriculture principles and practices.
